Integrity Council welcomes new Expert Panel members and appoints Jessica Wade-Murphy de Jiménez as joint Co-Chair.

The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) is pleased to announce the new cohort of Expert Panel members for the 2025 -2028 term. The newly appointed panel brings together international experts with a range of deep, technical knowledge across diverse sectors. Their insights will reinforce the Integrity Council’s commitment to creating a high-integrity voluntary carbon market that drives finance to climate solutions at speed and scale.

The Expert Panel is an independent, remunerated body of specialists responsible for providing technical expertise to the Integrity Council. The new cohort is made up of some members of the 2021-2024 Expert Panel cohort who reapplied for appointment as well as members who are new to the Integrity Council. All members bring direct and proven experience across varied areas of expertise spanning carbon crediting methodologies, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, carbon removals, human rights, policy, legal frameworks, climate finance, sustainable technologies and project life-cycle analysis. Experts broadly recognise the potential of a high-integrity voluntary carbon market to accelerate climate action and bring their expertise to help deliver that high integrity.

Jessica Wade-Murphy de Jiménez has been appointed as a new Co-Chair of the Expert Panel, joining Gabriel Labbate and Daniel Ortega-Pacheco who are remaining in this leadership role. As Co-Chair, Jessica will replace Pedro Martins Barata as he takes on a new role as a member of the Integrity Council’s Governing Board. Jessica has been an active member of the Expert Panel since 2021 and brings extensive experience in greenhouse gas mitigation accounting, baseline methodologies and measurement, reporting, and verification. She leads the climate change consultancy Atmosphere Alternative in Bogotá, Colombia. Jessica also serves on the UNFCCC Article 6.4 Mechanism Methodological Expert Panel and previously served on the Ethics Committee of Asocarbono, the Colombian Carbon Market Association. The Expert Panel co-chairs will oversee the Expert Panel’s work programme and act as the link between the Expert Panel the Standards Oversight Committee and the Governing Board, ensuring that technical recommendations are effectively communicated and integrated into decision-making processes.

The Integrity Council is dedicated to promoting diversity within its Expert Panel, ensuring representation across various geographies, genders, types of expertise and career stages. Recognising the importance of increasing the pool of experts equipped with addressing integrity issues in the voluntary carbon market, the Integrity Council is also still recruiting early to mid-career level professionals to join the Expert Panel. The ICVCM will aim to support them to broaden and deepen their technical expertise in robust carbon-crediting methodologies to build human capacity for the carbon markets for the years ahead.

Amy Merrill, Chief Executive Officer, ICVCM said: We are delighted to welcome our new Expert Panel members for the 2025-2028 term. Their diverse expertise and deep technical knowledge will be essential in advancing the Integrity Council’s mission to uphold high-integrity standards in the voluntary carbon market. We look forward to collaborating with them, to ensure their contributions drive real, measurable climate impacts and deliver on our vision and mission.”

Annette Nazareth, Chair, Governing Board, said: “The Board extends its heartfelt thanks to the outgoing members of the Expert Panel for their dedication and valuable contributions. Their expertise played a crucial role in shaping the Core Carbon Principles and Assessment Framework which have become the reference point for high integrity in the voluntary carbon market. This is a testament to their leadership, technical rigour and collaboration.”
