Working together to build high‑integrity carbon markets
The Integrity Council collaborates with organisations that share our commitment to scaling climate finance and strengthening the integrity of carbon markets worldwide.
High‑integrity carbon markets depend on coordinated action – from governments and civil society to technical bodies, and Indigenous Peoples as well as local communities – to ensure credits deliver real, measurable benefits for people and planet.
Through our collaborations, we help reduce fragmentation, improve market alignment, and support the conditions needed for trusted, science‑based climate action. Our partnerships draw on diverse expertise and local knowledge, supporting efforts that enhance consistency, transparency, and accessibility across carbon markets.

Our approach to collaboration
Independence and non‑endorsement
Partnerships with The Integrity Council do not imply endorsement of a partner’s products, services or claims. We uphold our independence as an international, non-profit governance body and standard setter. All partnerships are governed by our Principles of Partnership Engagement and subject to due diligence and oversight.
Inclusivity and representation
We value a wide range of perspectives. We seek balanced participation from the Global South, both Indigenous Peoples and local communities, as well as under‑represented groups to ensure carbon market rules and innovations reflect lived realities.
Transparency and accountability
All partnerships follow our governance standards, with due diligence, clear scoping, and shared expectations. Where appropriate, we publish summaries of partnerships to ensure transparency in our work and decision‑making.

Ways to work with us
The Integrity Council offers multiple avenues for collaboration beyond formal partnerships. These include:
For NGOs, think tanks, academic institutions, multilateral organisations, and peer standard setters.
For governments, funders, technical experts, and strategic collaborators.
For market actors, exchanges, platforms, and project developers.
For organisations seeking to amplify shared messages and convene stakeholders.
A self-led platform for rights holders and resource users to shape the future of carbon markets.
Featured Partner: SHIFT-CM
Science for High-Integrity Frameworks to Transform Carbon Markets (SHIFT-CM) is a collaborative research initiative led by The Nature Conservancy and Yale University. Comprising over 40 scientists from diverse institutions, SHIFT-CM aims to address critical gaps in nature-based carbon accounting through targeted research and working groups.
The Integrity Council and SHIFT-CM have entered into a formal agreement under the SRN. SHIFT-CM provides tailored scientific analysis to inform the Integrity Council’s CIWPs, while The Integrity Council offers strategic guidance on methodological priorities and integrity standards. This Partnership is governed by a memorandum of understanding and does not imply endorsement.
