Biography
Dr. Daniel Ortega Pacheco is the Director of BIOCARBON. He currently leads the Executive Secretariat of the Partnership for Agricultural Carbon hosted at IICA and supported by the Voluntary Carbon Market Integrity Initiative (VCMI). He has over 20 years of experience in climate change diplomacy, including driving multilateral environmental agreements and carbon market regulation. During COP21 in Paris, he served as Minister of the Environment of Ecuador and was entrusted with Co-Chair of the REDD+ Ministerial negotiations by the French Presidency. He has an MSc in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University and holds a PhD in Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University.
