Working groups
The aim of the Integrity Council is to help ensure that the voluntary carbon market fulfils its potential to accelerate the transition to net zero. To achieve this, our work is shared among different Working Groups.
The purpose of each Working Group is outlined below.
The Multi-Stakeholder Working Groups
Multi-Stakeholder Working Groups (MSWGs), together with external experts, are assessing Categories of carbon credits that have been identified by the Categories Working Group as raising complex issues in specific areas.
Continuous Improvement Work Programs
As the voluntary carbon market develops, new and innovative approaches are also appearing. The purpose of the Continuous Improvement Work Programs (CIWPs) is to understand and identify these emerging innovations and best practices to ensure our work draws on the best science and expertise available.
Indigenous Peoples and local communities Voluntary Carbon Market Engagement Forum
With are hosting an IPs and LCs Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) Engagement Forum, to be built for and led by IPs and LCs with the goal of strengthening and coordinating their involvement in the VCM.
The Category Working Group
The initial assessment of Categories of carbon credits for adherence to the Core Carbon Principles Assessment Framework was conducted by the Category Working Group (CWG). The CWG has decided which Categories of carbon credits will be assessed by internal experts, which Categories will be assessed by Multi-Stakeholder Working Groups, involving external experts, and which are unlikely to meet the CCP criteria and will not be assessed at this time.
