The Integrity Council is driving progress in high-integrity carbon markets through rigorous assessment, ongoing assurance, and inclusive collaboration.

Independent working groups, strategic partnerships, and open stakeholder engagement deliver this work, all designed to advance robust standards and practical solutions for climate action.

Reports and case studies show the impact of the Core Carbon Principles and the Integrity Councils ongoing work.

This work is shaped by continuous input from market participants, policymakers, both Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and is supported by a global network of partners.

By fostering trust, scaling market confidence, and lowering barriers to participation, the Integrity Council is enabling carbon markets to deliver measurable benefits for people and planet.

How we engage — and why it matters

Independent, global governance

We are an independent, non‑profit governance body for carbon markets, focused on unlocking climate finance with integrity. Our engagement work is designed to be inclusive and transparent, bringing civil society, market participants, policymakers and both Indigenous Peoples and local communities into the process.

No‑endorsement principle

Partnerships and collaborations do not imply endorsement of an organisation’s products, services or claims. We protect our independence through due diligence, clear agreements and oversight.

From input to improvement

Feedback routes – including working groups and the Continuous Improvement Work Programs – feed directly into our assessments and ongoing assurance, ensuring the CCPs evolve with science and practice.

Benefits for people and planet

Safeguards embedded in our rules require robust processes that protect rights and promote sustainable development, including free, prior and informed consent and transparent benefit‑sharing for both Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
