Biography
Saima brings over 25 years of experience in carbon markets, climate finance, project development, and risk management. She helped pioneer environmental finance and CDM carbon market projects at the GEF and World Bank (including BioCarbon Fund). She brings NCS expertise and formerly headed carbon finance at Conservation International. She is also a former Wall St risk manager. Her operations experience in 50+ countries in Asia, Africa, Caribbean, Latin America, South Asia, and UAE includes renewable energy, forestry, regenerative agriculture, waste, water, and energy efficiency.
Currently as Carbon Markets Director at Climate Impact X she developed a unique investor type carbon credit quality and integrity assessment framework by project type. She holds a BA Economics/ International Relations/Geology from Smith College, MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College, and post graduate work in natural resources policymaking at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Earth and Environmental Sciences at Wesleyan University.
