Biography
Rutger became involved in the carbon markets in the early 00’s as legal counsel to governments, MDBs, UN agencies and the private sector. He drafted and negotiated contracts for the compliance and voluntary markets and contributed to the development of market templates for organizations as IETA and ISDA. He also served on the Technical Advisory Committee of the Gold Standard. His climate work led him to the Green Climate Fund where he served as its first General Counsel. Subsequently he worked for the Global Fund, The Ocean Cleanup and, most recently, CGIAR. Rutger is currently an international legal, ethics and governance consultant advising clients on a variety of public issues, including climate change.
