Meet the team


Matthew Arnold is Global Head, Impact Finance & Markets at The Nature Conservancy. Matthew oversees The Nature Conservancy’s NatureVest, Corporate Engagement, and Carbon Markets teams, collectively working to deliver impactful conservation outcomes to achieve The Nature Conservancy’s 2030 goals.

Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy in fall 2021, Matthew was Head of Impact and Sustainable Finance at JPMorgan Chase where he led teams making principal investments in affordable housing, small business, and workforce development while advising JPMorgan and its clients on ESG and sustainability strategy. Matthew was instrumental in building JPMorgan’s Sustainability commitment of $200 billion in SDG finance, and operational carbon neutrality.

Previously, Matt was Chief Operating Officer at the World Resources Institute, a sustainable development think tank. He held positions in marketing with IBM, in investment banking with Merrill Lynch, and in business development with Santa Fe Trading, Hong Kong. Matt founded the Management Institute for Environment and Business, which was a pioneer in presenting environmental challenges as business opportunities to companies and business schools.

Matt holds an A.B. degree in Psychobiology from Harvard College, an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Matt and his wife Elizabeth Littlefield reside in Washington, D.C.
