Biography

Mary Grady is President and CEO of Environmental Resources Trust (ERT), a wholly owned nonprofit subsidiary of Winrock International. Mary has been active in environmental markets for over 30 years, including 15 years at Winrock, where she oversees two of the world’s leading carbon crediting programs: American Carbon Registry (ACR) and the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART).

She is also responsible for the strategic leadership of ACR and its respected team of technical and policy experts in regulated carbon markets such as California, Washington and Colorado, as well as global voluntary carbon markets. She has overseen ACR’s issuance of over 250 million tons of carbon credits valued at over $3 billion. Mary led the application process and secured approval of both ART and ACR to supply credits to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Carbon Offsetting Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). She actively represents Winrock as the head of delegation as an Observer NGO to the UNFCCC and serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA).

Prior to working in carbon markets, Mary worked for 16 years in the renewable energy industry, including as the Operations Leader of Clipper Windpower and in Brazil as the Director of Kyocera Solar’s pioneering rural electrification program. She holds a Master’s degree in International Business and speaks Portuguese and Spanish. She lives with her family in California.
