Biography

Lidia Ruiz Velasco is the Technical Development Manager at the ICVCM, reporting to the Technical Director. Prior to joining the team, Lidia provided her assistance to the Secretariat through BSI.  With a professional background in marketing and business development, and a track record of leading projects related to ISO/BS sustainability standards, she made a conscious career shift and returned to academia to expand her knowledge in climate change science and policy.

Lidia’s academic pursuits led her to take a Master of Science degree in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London, where she specialized in Global Environmental Change and Policy. Her research and project work focused on critical areas such as energy generation regulations and decarbonization within the European Union, large-scale deployment of carbon removal strategies, and social justice. Lidia possesses a keen interest in various facets of the field, including the voluntary carbon market, nature-based climate solutions, carbon removal technologies, as well as the protection and integration of marginalized communities, as indigenous people.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Lidia identifies herself as a nature enthusiast, dedicating her leisure time predominantly to outdoor activities such as climbing and hiking.
