Biography

Karen is Carbon Market Coordinator at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, formerly the UNEP DTU Partnership. She has 20+ years of experience in the area of sustainability transition research, impact assessment of mitigation policies and actions and capacity building in developing countries. Since COP21 she has followed the UNFCCC negotiations on carbon markets and transparency and in 2017, she co-founded the Sustainable Development Initiative (SDI) for Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. She holds a PhD in International Development Studies, a MSc in Political Science and a BSc in Geography. For the Integrity Council she serves as a subject matter expert for the safeguards and sustainable development panel.
