The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) hosted the launch webinar for the Continuous Improvement Work Program (CIWP) report on Oversight of Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs). Bringing together experts from across the carbon market ecosystem, the webinar presented the report’s key findings and recommendations to strengthen the integrity, consistency, and effectiveness of validation and verification systems.
As carbon markets continue to grow and mature, robust validation and verification processes remain critical to maintaining confidence in carbon credits. The report examines opportunities to enhance oversight, strengthen competencies, improve transparency and accountability, better manage conflicts of interest, and increase coordination across the validation and verification ecosystem.
During the webinar, participants heard an overview of the report’s development, key findings, and recommendations, followed by a panel discussion featuring CIWP co-facilitators and participants. The discussion explored the rationale behind the recommendations and their implications for carbon-crediting programs, VVBs, accreditation bodies, and the wider market. The session concluded with a live audience Q&A, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with the experts behind the report.
