En esta \u00e9poca de transici\u00f3n, el MVC tiene el potencial de ser un motor clave para alcanzar los objetivos clim\u00e1ticos mundiales, proteger la naturaleza y mejorar los medios de vida de millones de personas en todo el mundo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero para que el mercado tenga realmente \u00e9xito, los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales deben asumir un papel protagonista en la configuraci\u00f3n de este sistema reformado. Como guardianes de ecosistemas cr\u00edticos, su participaci\u00f3n no s\u00f3lo es beneficiosa, sino esencial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-700-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-6074a71265da0373222d36342759af85\">El camino hacia el \u00e9xito clim\u00e1tico pasa por los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y las comunidades locales<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Alcanzar el objetivo mundial de limitar el aumento de la temperatura a 1,5 grados cent\u00edgrados es imposible sin la protecci\u00f3n y restauraci\u00f3n de nuestros bosques y otros sumideros naturales de carbono vitales. Las investigaciones muestran que el MVC podr\u00eda proporcionar hasta <a href=\"\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">un tercio de la financiaci\u00f3n<\/a> necesaria para soluciones clim\u00e1ticas basadas en la naturaleza, reduciendo potencialmente las emisiones en 2.700 millones de toneladas anuales para 2030. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales gestionan el 40% de los paisajes ecol\u00f3gicamente intactos del planeta y han protegido estos recursos durante milenios. Sus pr\u00e1cticas tradicionales y su arraigada conexi\u00f3n con la naturaleza los convierten en aliados esenciales en el esfuerzo mundial por alcanzar las emisiones netas cero. Sin embargo, a pesar de este papel fundamental, siguen siendo algunas de las comunidades m\u00e1s marginadas en t\u00e9rminos de financiaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica, y a menudo reciben pocos beneficios de los proyectos de cr\u00e9ditos de carbono que afectan a sus tierras y recursos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Esto debe cambiar.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un verdadero mercado de carbono de alta integridad no s\u00f3lo salvaguardar\u00e1 los derechos de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales, sino que tambi\u00e9n proporcionar\u00e1 beneficios tangibles, como medios de vida sostenibles, beneficios financieros y copropiedad de los proyectos. Para que el mercado voluntario de carbono desarrolle todo su potencial, los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y las comunidades locales deben participar como socios estrat\u00e9gicos en los procesos de toma de decisiones y determinar activamente las futuras normas del mercado. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-700-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-cca64e6824591e2ebbfd2ff62e4f0253\">El papel del Foro de Compromiso<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Para responder a esta necesidad, se cre\u00f3 el Foro de Participaci\u00f3n Voluntaria de los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas y las Comunidades Locales en el Mercado del Carbono. Este \u00f3rgano independiente y aut\u00f3nomo re\u00fane a representantes de diversas regiones, como \u00c1frica, Asia, Am\u00e9rica Latina y Ocean\u00eda, y da a los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y a las comunidades locales una voz fuerte en la configuraci\u00f3n del futuro del mercado del carbono. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El <a href=\"https:\/\/icvcm.org\/about-the-forum\/\">Foro de Participaci\u00f3n<\/a> naci\u00f3 de un taller celebrado en la COP27 por el Consejo de Integridad para el Mercado Voluntario de Carbono (ICVCM) y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.org\/en-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Nature Conservancy<\/a>. El objetivo era claro: una mayor participaci\u00f3n de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales en el mercado voluntario de carbono. Como resultado, el Foro contribuir\u00e1 a garantizar que los derechos e intereses de estas comunidades no s\u00f3lo se protejan, sino que se promuevan activamente dentro de un mercado de alta integridad.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Su misi\u00f3n incluye apoyar la participaci\u00f3n de los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas y\/o comunidades locales en el MVC, empoderar a las comunidades con asistencia t\u00e9cnica y asegurar su colaboraci\u00f3n con y entre los participantes del mercado. Mediante la identificaci\u00f3n de prioridades y oportunidades, el Foro desempe\u00f1ar\u00e1 un papel crucial para garantizar que el MVC cumpla su promesa de financiaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica para las poblaciones m\u00e1s vulnerables del mundo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El reci\u00e9n creado Foro, autogestionado, se basar\u00e1 en la participaci\u00f3n de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales en el trabajo del Consejo de Integridad, a trav\u00e9s de la Junta y otros programas. Anteriormente, dicha participaci\u00f3n inclu\u00eda la consulta de los <a href=\"https:\/\/icvcm.org\/es\/los-principios-fundamentales-del-carbono\/\">Principios B\u00e1sicos del Carbono (CCP)<\/a>. Estos principios establecen una referencia mundial para los cr\u00e9ditos de carbono de alta calidad y han abierto nuevos caminos al incluir s\u00f3lidas salvaguardias sociales y medioambientales para garantizar los derechos y el bienestar de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y las comunidades locales.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paralelamente a este trabajo en curso, el Foro permitir\u00e1 a los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas y\/o a las comunidades locales proporcionar orientaci\u00f3n sobre el desarrollo de los PCC y de este mercado en general. Esto garantizar\u00e1 que se respeten la visi\u00f3n, los intereses y las tradiciones de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y las comunidades locales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>De cara al futuro, el Foro ha identificado varias prioridades clave, entre las que se incluyen:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Definir las necesidades de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales y desarrollar una estrategia de capacitaci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establecer las mejores pr\u00e1cticas en materia de distribuci\u00f3n de beneficios, conocimientos ecol\u00f3gicos y derecho consuetudinario.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eliminar los obst\u00e1culos a la participaci\u00f3n en el MVC, incluidos los problemas t\u00e9cnicos, jur\u00eddicos y financieros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-700-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-7a32af03c0eb79fcad80a61535516265\">Avanzar con impacto, integridad y colaboraci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La ciencia es clara: para evitar los peores efectos de la emergencia clim\u00e1tica, las emisiones mundiales deben reducirse casi a la mitad para 2030 y llegar a cero en 2050. Los mecanismos de mercado, como el mercado voluntario de carbono, son esenciales para impulsar la inversi\u00f3n del sector privado en soluciones clim\u00e1ticas a la escala que necesitamos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y las comunidades locales est\u00e1n en primera l\u00ednea del cambio clim\u00e1tico. Los mercados de carbono les ofrecen un salvavidas, conectando a sus comunidades con inversores internacionales al tiempo que protegen y mejoran los sumideros de carbono, aumentan los ingresos y apoyan medios de vida sostenibles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, m\u00e1s empresas con ambiciones clim\u00e1ticas han respaldado el MVC, demostrando que cuando las empresas se comprometen con los mercados de carbono, establecen objetivos clim\u00e1ticos m\u00e1s ambiciosos. Sin embargo, para que el MVC alcance todo su potencial, debe ampliarse dr\u00e1sticamente, y las organizaciones centradas en la reforma, como la ICVCM, la VCMI y la GCMU, est\u00e1n liderando el proceso. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para tener un impacto material, debemos construir sobre los cimientos existentes de la reforma, priorizando el impacto, la integridad, la acci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica corporativa y el apoyo gubernamental. Las CCP proporcionan un marco s\u00f3lido para garantizar cr\u00e9ditos de alta calidad, mientras que los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y\/o las comunidades locales seguir\u00e1n desempe\u00f1ando un papel central en la configuraci\u00f3n de un mercado de carbono que aporte beneficios tanto medioambientales como sociales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El futuro del MVC se basa en la colaboraci\u00f3n, la transparencia y el compromiso compartido con la acci\u00f3n por el clima. El tiempo apremia, pero juntos podemos construir un mercado que acelere la transici\u00f3n a cero emisiones netas y proporcione beneficios significativos y duraderos para las personas y el planeta.
